CALGARY- Calgary police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead early this morning.

At about 2:37 a.m. Sunday, police received several calls of gunshots being heard in the area of 18th Avenue and 4th Street S.W.

Officers found an injured man seated in a black BMW stopped in the northbound curb lane of the 1800 block of 4th Street S.W. EMS treated the man and transported him to hospital, where he later died.

Police have cordoned off the area from 17th Avenue to 19th Avenue S.W. and 4th Street to 2nd Street S.W. while the investigation is underway. It’s expected it will be closed for most of the day.

The Calgary Police Service homicide unit is conducting the investigation.
